Literary Heroine Blog Party!

Introduce yourself!
Divulge your life's vision, likes,
dislikes, aspirations, or something completely random!
To begin with, my name is Crista Moriah {actually my first name is Crista & my middle name is Moriah but most people just call me Moriah}.  I am a young woman who loves Jesus, reading, anything Jane Austen, tea parties, writing stories, balls, the color lavender, photography, friends, blogging...and the list goes on!

What, to you, forms the essence of a true heroine?
In my eyes, a true heroine is someone who doesn't listen to what the world may say to do, but instead patterns her life for Christ.

Share (up to) four heroines of literature that you most admire and relate to.
My favorite literature heroines are:  Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice
Jane Austen of Just Jane, Miriam of Calico Captive, Lysbeth of Lysbeth a Tale of the Dutch.

Five of your favorite historical novels?
I love so many books that it would be hard to only mention just five...
so I will list a few more than that number:

Emma by: Jane Austen
Anne of Green Gables: by L.M. Montgomery
Pearl Maiden by: H. Rider Haggard
Millie Keith: Life of Faith Series by: Martha Finely
The Princess Adelina by: Julie Sutter
To Have & To Hold by: Mary Johnston
Little Women by: Lousia May Alcott
The Kingdom Series: by Chuck Black
The Bronze Bow: by Elizabeth George Speare
Sir Gibbie: by George Macdonald

Out of those five books who is your favorite main character and why?
Millie Keith of the Millie Keith: Life of Faith Series. She had such a heart to please Christ...her example was an excellent one!  Millie's life was filled with adventures as well as hardships.  She felt like a friend you could relate to.

Out of those five books who is your favorite secondary character and why?
Anne Shirley from the Anne of Green Gables Series.

Anne had a vivid imagination which flowed into her life as a writer.
I love to write, so her character inspires me in that respect.

If you were to plan out your dream vacation, where would you travel to -
and what would you plan to do there?
England, Ireland or Canada.  Go places my literature heroines have gone.

What is your favorite time period and culture to read about?
Regency era England.

You have been invited to perform at the local charity concert.
Singing, comedy, recitation - what is your act comprised of?
I am a little on the timid side, but perhaps singing.

If you were to attend a party where each guest was to
portray a heroine of literature, who would you select to represent?

Emma Woodhouse of Emma!

What are your sentiments on the subject of chocolate?
Oh, I adore it!

Favorite author(s)?
Jane Austen, Louisa May Alcott, Chuck Black, Martha Finely, L. M. Montgomery, Douglas Bond, Elizabeth George Speare, C.S. Lewis, Laura Ingalls Wilder, G.A. Henty

Besides essentials, what would you take on a visiting voyage to a foreign land?
Books & writing materials, of course!

In which century were most of the books you read written?
The 19th century.

In your opinion, the ultimate hero in literature is…
Mr. Darcy! {who else, lol}

Describe your ideal dwelling place.
A cottage by would do nicely!

Sum up your fashion style in five words.
Colorful. Modest. Feminine. Stylish. Comfortable.

Have you ever wanted to change a character’s name?
Perhaps once or twice...

In your opinion, the most dastardly villain of all literature is...
Willoughby!

Three favorite Non-fiction books?
It has been forever since I have read something non-fictional, so any titles escape me for the moment.

Your duties met for the day, how would you choose to spend a carefree summer afternoon?
Sipping a glass of homemade lemonade outside, under the shelter of willow trees, writing a story!

Create a verbal sketch of your dream hat - in such a way as will best portray your true character.
It is a lovely bonnet trimmed with lavender ribbon and sprigs of fresh flowers to adorn it.

Share the most significant event(s) that have marked your life in the past year.
Meeting a new friend who is like Anne Shirley and myself a Diana Barry.
We are kindred spirits as Anne would say! *winks*

Share the Bible passage(s) that have been most inspiring to you recently.
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
