Valentine Card Challenge: 1400 cards by Feb 14th

CARDS SO FAR: 3,498

At this season of my life, I will not be celebrating Valentine's Day romantically because Mr. Right is somewhere on this earth unbeknownst to me.

Instead, the Lord put a beautiful plan on my heart.  I want to spread His unfailing love.

Many of you know how my life has changed incredibly over the past couple of years.  I talk about the country God has called me to all the time.  It is usually the main theme centered around my blogging and posts.  I guess maybe it is because I am in love with Uganda.  The beauty of the country, the joy of the people wooed me from the start.  I'm in love with the call, the people.  I'm lovesick, wanting to go back.

While I was there last spring, the most meaningful thing was to see how much a card can touch a life.

I brought bright, colorful cards to the prisons/orphanages telling of the love of Jesus.  The smiles that lit the children's faces were bright enough to warm me to my very core.  It made me smile too.

So, that being said want to have a Valentine Card Challenge .

{via}

There are around 200 children in each facility and around 7 known facilities exist in Uganda.

That means we need 1400 cards for each child to receive one.  1400 cards by February 14th.

{1} Make a simple card(s) with the John 3:16 verse written out, and "God loves you" or in Lugandan you could put "Jesu Okwagala" & sign your name.

>>Please have your brothers & sisters make one, your friends, parents, family, people at your church, youth group, school.  Anyone can help participate to meet our goal.  One guy is even having a party to make cards!!

{2} Write "Valentine Card Challenge" on the back of the envelope **If you have a lot of cards, just send it in a large envelope or box.

Address & send to the ministry SixtyFeet:

Sixty Feet Inc.
2451 Cumberland Parkway
Suite 3526
Atlanta, Georgia
30339

{3} In order to keep a tally, please comment on this post or under the "Contact Me" page at the top of my blog telling me how many cards you sent in.

Also, please feel free to share this on your own blog, through email, Pinterest, whatever you like.

That's it!  Three simple steps that can change the world with God's love.  All it takes is ordinary people willing to do what He asks of them to make an extraordinary difference in the lives around them and across the globe.

  1. Moriah, friend...this is so, so beautiful! What a blessed burden the Lord has placed on your heart and it is such a joy to follow your journey through your writings on your blog! I am so touched by the love you have for these children and would be honoured to participate in something like this! I am sharing this now but I will be making a few cards...card making is my favourite hobby and to make a card for a dear orphan would indeed be a privilege! Thank you for your encouragement and for being such a lovely inspiration to me! Of course I would love to meet you someday! Hugs and blessings, Kelly-Anne

  2. I am definitely going to do this ;) With a certain something going on in my life right now, mom + dad don't feel itsit's a good idea for me to go on a mission trip ;)

It's ah-may-zing what God places in your path once you've surrendered everything to Him!

I will be doing this, as I feel like I can get as close to the children in need of love, without being able show love to them in the way I would be able to if I was there :')

    Much love dear friend!

    1. Wow. Thank you so much! There is not a true deadline. I just thought it was a neat thing to do around Valentine's. The cards will be taken to the kids in UG whenever a team goes over, so there's not a big rush.

    2. We are still working on cards. My daughter decided that her goal was for us to send you 80 cards and we are over half ways there! We are going to spend today making more cards and we are hoping to be mailing them all out next week. Thank you for letting us help you with this. We have been taking this time to learn about Uganda and the people that live there and it's been quite eye opening for my little's. :) We don't homeschool by the way, we just like to do things like this at home to teach our little's about caring about others and being Jesus with skin on to everyone. :)

    1. Sure! I welcome more. There cannot be too many since I do not know the exact number of orphans in the prisons. I plan on having the challenge until Valentine's Day, then seeing how many we come up with. No pressure to have them exactly by that day--because they will be delivered to the kids whenever teams go over. HTH.

  35. Hi Crista, this is a lovely idea! You are doing wonderful things for our Father's kingdom! The girls in our youth group got together and made 81 cards which we put in the mail today. May our Father bless all the children who receive them, and may He bless you as you are so joyfully about His business!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hello Crista! Just checking to make sure you have received enough cards. If not, we could make more. We sent ours (81 of them) from Minnesota last week. I hope that you received them! Blessings!

    1. Thank you for asking! The goal of 1400 was just an estimate. I didn't know exactly how many kids would be in the prisons. Apparently there are a lot more than I was thinking. The total amount of cards right now is 2,068 {668 more orphans}. Right now, I'm just asking people to make as many as they feel led by the Lord. I know He will meet the exact need so that not one. single. child. is left out! If you would like to make more, I welcome that. :)

      Thanks so much!!

    1. It is not too late!! I welcome all cards since the exact number of kids in the prison is only an estimate. Right now the goal is simply to make as many cards as possible, as the Lord leads so that not one. single. child is left out.
