This new year has been so refreshing.

The Lord has been changing my heart, teaching me new things. It has been really exciting so far!

I have been getting to know friends at our new church, doing a great Bible study by Leslie Ludy called Setapart Girl {she is a wonderful speaker/writer--challenging young women to save their hearts for their future Prince Charming.}, writing away, reading, taking pictures, listening to music, doing schoolwork...spending time with Jesus and putting my hope in Him! :)

I have also been privileged to become a part of a new blog on the block, called Altogether Separate!

What an amazing opportunity God has given me in this. This blog is a place for Christian homeschooled girls to meet other bloggers and to find encouragement in their walk.

Home, Sweet Home for Christmas!

Yep, you read this title right--Our family is back at home! After spending nearly 4 months living out of town we were ready...

The week of Christmas, all of the hurricane damage was finished being repaired and we began moving back to our beloved home
{which was a Christmas present in itself ;)}.

In spite of the busyness, we had a delightful Christmas...celebrating the birth of Jesus and making special memories with family! Did you?

Christmas: God's Gift to the World

Overcoming Fear

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."

(Deuteronomy 31:6)

Fear. What a word. It towers over us as a giant would--trying to crush our faith.

As Christians we have to battle it constantly by renewing our mind with the promises of the Bible.

We have to keep fighting back the lies Satan will try to plant in our hearts with the truth of God's words.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ... (2 Corinthians 10:5a)

I think one of the most difficult things I struggle with daily is fear...it isn't an easy thing to fight.

But, I always love the feeling of Christ's overwhelming peace that fills my heart when I ask Him for it.

It completely outweighs fear, worry, or doubt. God is much BIGGER than fear ever will be.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4b)

That's what we all have to realize with a smile. We can Overcome with Him on our side!

Last month on the 24th, I turned 15.
{a big 'thank you' for all of the sweet comments/emails you left me--they made my day!}

Lately I have been reflecting on just how precious life is.

My grandma had to be taken to the hospital on Tuesday evening of this week to be evaluated for a stroke. After many tests, the doctors concluded that she had a TIA or mini stroke, so thankfully she will not be permanently effected by it. She was discharged last evening. I love my grandmother so much--It was so hard to watch her go through that (my whole family was at her house when she started having limpness in her right arm, etc.).

So you see, sometimes we often take life for granted.

As the New Living Translation of James 4:14 tells us,

'Your life is like the morning fog—it's here a little while, then it's gone.'

We should make the most of the time God gives us here on earth, striving to tell people about the Gospel, and developing a close walk with Him. I pray that my life will be a testimony to the world--a shining light for my Maker in this world of darkness.

I want to give thanks to the one who gave me life.

The One who, 'knit me together in my mother's womb.' [Psalm 139:13]

I am so grateful to be part of my wonderful family and to have dear friends....

Which leads me to make this conclusion:

I am a blessed fifteen year old.

Yep, I've seen Courageous! *grins* It is such a wonderful movie!!! Seriously. I LOVED it!

I think that it is definitely one of Sherwood's best.

I encourage you to see it--

Thoughtful Thursday: {So Good to Be Back}

Hello Everyone,

It has been quite awhile since my last post...my apologies! Due to the tree damage mentioned here, we have had to move to my grandparents' place on the river while our house is being repaired. How can I complain though, with sunsets like the one below to capture so often.

The other day, I got our computer all hooked up. Have you ever tried doing that before? Well, let me tell ya, it involves a whole lotta cords! *laughs* But, the good news is I'm able to blog again! ;)

The Leafy Invader {an inside story} + What Irene Left Behind

So are you ready to hear and see more about the tree that decided to play 'invader' in our home during Irene's stay in North Carolina??

Ready. Set. Pictures!

After we heard the tremendous crash,

my daddy rushed upstairs, this being the scene that awaited him....

What a big mess!!

We were following close behind... It smelled of Christmas upstairs, usually this smell is delightful, but in that circumstance, it was sickening. After a few minutes of recovering from the shock of it it all, we quickly grabbed every pot, pan, or form of a container we could find!!

Then, my daddy nailed this huge green tarp on both sides of the wall forming a 'V' shape to catch the water that was seeping through the multiple holes in our roof!! Pretty clever, no?

Here is a picture of what it looked like below...

That Saturday was probably one of the longest days of my life!!

But thank God we all came through it safely--that's the most important thing.

Now on to the next morning....

The sunshine was such a beautiful site as I mentioned before!

After waking up, we all headed outside to survey the damage. It was something!

When the tree fell on our house, it was so long that it hung off the back of our house 10 to 12 feet!!

A feeling of reassurance and peace after the storm.

The morning after Irene left us, I woke up to the sunlight streaming through the window.

What a relief that was--somehow, it gave me a deep sense of peace. It made me think of this song...

Yes, the hurricane had gone--but not without doing considerable damage.

Storm Update

First of all, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for the sweet comments written!

It has been such an encouragement through this long, stormy day!

As of now:

The rain has slowed down a lot--and the winds have too, now there are just a few wind gusts.

Irene is slowly but surely making her way out of our town. We are through the worst of it! Yay!

One of the 'I can't believe it' miracles of the day....

We have had our power throughout the whole hurricane!!

Our power has flicked off about 15 times throughout the whole day, only to come back on a couple of seconds later. We've also had our lights flicker several times without going out completely. I guess God knew we would need the power since the big tree incident!! {Oh, girls, that's a whole 'nother story--It'll have to wait for a separate posts with lot of details and pictures. What. a. big. mess!!}

God is good!! He has protected us from so many things that could have happened to make our situation worse. Let us praise Him!!

Urgent Prayer Request for Our Family {re: hurricane irene}

Hi Everyone,

Irene has been here since this AM. Around 9 o'clock, the only signs of damage we had was a tree that split in two in the backyard. It fell away from our house...but the other half is still standing. As well as scattered leaves and tree limbs.

Around 30 minutes ago, my siblings and I were all sitting on the couch watching a Little House and my parents were in the other room eating some breakfast.

Then all of the sudden we heard the loudest boom ever.

An enormous pine tree had crashed through our roof!!   Part of our ceiling upstairs is wide open!!! Rain is coming through the gaping hole.   The damage is pretty bad. It is a mess!!

What a shock to us all! We were totally not expecting it, especially since Irene's force had changed from a category 3 to a category 1. We are all safe. Thankfully, no one was upstairs.   Although a couple of people we know are without power, we still have ours...so that's a plus! God sure was looking out for all of us.
Please be praying!! But, not just for us, because I know anyone who has been or will be affected by Irene will need a lot of prayer too!

I had to add this verse that Miss Elizabeth Rose wrote in a comment to me...it's so perfect:

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof." ~Psalm 46:1-3

Goodbye Summer, Hello School! + {Some Bloggy News}

Annnd it's Back to School we all go...

Which leads me to reflect on what a delightful summer break I've had...

But, I have to admit that it does feel so good to get into a routine again.

Mom has eased us back into the schedule bit by bit.

God has given us the gift of learning~ And it's a blessing to be able to learn!
Think of all the impoverished places in the world where
children haven't had the opportunity to go to school, or even know what school is.
Whether it is learning in school or spiritually, both are things to be treasured.

Well, it's been awhile since I blogged last, and thus I must update you on my 'bloggy news'.

This is the last entry I have written in my faithful diary companion.

It saddens me deeply that it will also be the end of my story!

Thank you for being a guest in my home and such a kind listener.

I will never forget this beautiful time we have had together!

My Dearest Diary,

So Jane did have good taste after all! However could she have guessed that the man I had in mind was the very one she wished me to meet!?! I do not think there was ever a moment when I was more grateful to her.

That night at the ball, young Mr. Russell Whitby and I became better acquainted. I think we were both surprised at how much we had in common. I had never met a more distinguished gentleman. He seemed to have such a kind heart and generous soul...but most importantly, his love for the Lord was strong. That was what I admired the most. Of course Jane made sure Russell came over to do various things in the weeks to follow the ball. For we had fallen in love...I think at first sight.

Six months later, I was Mrs. Russell Whitby, and he carried me across the threshold of our house, one that I called my home during childhood. We both were so happy! For me, it was a dream fulfilled.

For my wedding present, Jane gifted me with a beautifully carved and painted wooden chest. I was so pleased to see my initial 'R' carved in swirly letters, adorning the top. What a treasured keepsake to store all the things that I hold dear. If God blesses us with a little girl one day, I would love to pass it and the keepsakes on to her.

Several months after we had gotten settled into our new home, the Lord blessed us with twins, a boy and girl! I knew at once that I wanted them to be my parent's namesakes and dear Russell was quick to agree. Precious little Ruthie and Grant. I love their bouncing blond curls and big blue eyes. How darling they are!

I must kiss you farewell, dearest diary. Thank you for holding all of the treasured secrets that I carried in my girlish heart. You have followed me all the way from my sixteenth birthday until now.

I am grateful to have called you 'friend'.

I hope that little Ruthie will cherish reading the entries I made to you one day...perhaps on her sixteenth birthday. I can imagine it just now. I will take her aside on that special day and tell her that my beloved chest is all hers. She will unwrap my cherished keepsakes...

The golden heart shaped locket, you, sweet diary, my copy of First Impressions,

and a lavender dress: each with a unique story to tell.

And the same happiness will fill her heart that filled mine on the day of my sweet sixteenth birthday.

Although the business of motherhood and running her home took up much of Rosalyn's time, she held every minute of it dear. And every once and a while, she would slip away into the attic, and make her way to the chest. Opening the lid with tenderness, she would feel around for a little package wrapped in brown paper. Flipping through the diary's well-worn pages, a smile would spread across her face as she reminisced about the sweet memories of that time that seemed so far ago. Then Rosalyn would turn her face heavenwards, and whisper to herself, "What a good life the Lord had blessed me with!"

Hello, my friend! It is the next to the last day of when I shall finish telling my story. I know that you are anxious for me to continue, so I shall.

Oh, I am going to host a ball in honor of you, in a fortnight,

Dearest Diary,

The other day when Jane and I were busy with our embroidery once again, she got up and walked out of the room quite hastily. I thought, 'Now is your chance, Rosalyn! Hurry up...follow Jane!' I rose from my chair and made my way to Jane's bedroom. The door was cracked just a bit, but not enough for me to peep in, so I slowly pushed it open an inch or two more. Then, I could see her at her desk, writing rapidly. 'So this is what she has been up to. I wonder what she is writing...' were thoughts that swirled in my mind. My curiosity got the better of me...so I opened the door just enough for me to slip in. Then, I tiptoed into her room, quietly. Her quill still moved across the page.

I had almost reached her desk when she startled me greatly by saying, 'Rosalyn, I know you are there.' I swallowed hard, then said, 'Why yes, Jane. Truthfully, I am puzzled by the way you disappear when we are at our tasks and never come back until hours afterward.' This time when Jane spoke she looked up into my eyes, 'Yes. It was wrong of me not to tell you sooner... You must promise me not to talk to anyone about what I am going to speak of.' Her voice changed to a whisper as she continued, 'I know how fond you are of First Impressions.' 'Oh, yes!' I replied enthusiastically, then said, 'Go on..' 'And you have often spoken of your wish to meet the author and how you find it a mystery as to the reason why she or he wants to remain 'anyonymous'. I smiled at her and nodded. Jane took my hand and squeezed it affectionately. 'Rosalyn, dear...I am the author!' I looked at her in utter amazement!! I was astounded. My own cousin, bosom friend, and companion was the very one who penned First Impressions?!? How could this be... I found myself saying, 'Oh, Jane!! You are the best author who has lived on the face of this earth. Why do you keep your obvious talent a secret??? How could you?' She smiled and said quietly, 'Rosalyn, you have grown to know how much I detest authors who draw attention to themselves or their work. I do not wish for that to be the case with me. Not in the least. Do you understand, dear?' I thought about it for a moment, then I came to realize that her words were truth. It was best this way...I was still in a daze, though. I gave Jane a hug and said, 'I admire you greatly. I understand your point of view.' We smiled at one another. Jane told me of the other works she was in the process of finishing. I was so excited to see them. The best part of all is this: My beloved cousin gave me the original First Impressions manuscript, in her own handwriting. She even signed her name after 'The End', especially for me!

Well, that is all for now, dear Diary. I must begin preparations for this evening's ball. Our gowns are simply lovely! I am sure cousin will be in a fuss over how I look. My hair will have to be dressed up with every pin in its place, my powder evenly applied, and the gown just right with dancing slippers to match. I wonder what sort of a matchmaker Jane is...I dearly hope she has good taste. Well, I will be polite to whoever the gentleman proves to be, but I will be keeping an eye out for Russell Whitby. As I have mentioned before, he is heir to the estate that was once my family's since his father has died. My wish has not died about once again living on the grounds where I have such precious memories. I shall write about my evening when I return!

My Dearest Diary,

The ball was simply grand, indeed!! Tonight was the most memorable of my life! I will tell you about it from the beginning...

I arrived with the Austens at the mansion in which the ball was held. The grounds were so beautiful, lit up at night with torches. The ladies all looked their best as well as the gentlemen. Excitement filled the air as everyone shared in delightful conversations. As we made our entrance into the ballroom, I gasped in amazement! The beauty of it all was overwhelming...
Many men asked me for a dance. From my position in the ballroom I could see my cousin scanning the room, as if looking for that 'special someone'....As Jane bustled over to me, accompanied by that same someone, she said, 'Rosalyn, I would like you to meet Russell Whitby.' My eyes grew round with astonishment as I gave a polite curtsy.

Hello Diary,

A year and a half has passed since my last entry. I have been so busy that I have not had time to write you very often except for little tidbits here and there. But this is no excuse; I do apologize!Life is very different now than it was before the accident, but I have grown accustomed to it.

Jane and I have become the best of friends. I was exceedingly happy when she asked me to be her companion. What an exciting opportunity! As fond as I am of Jane, sometimes she can prove to be quite strange. We will be talking of the latest news about town or working on a piece of embroidery, when all of a sudden, whilst my back is turned, she disappears. Then, she is nowhere to be found...not just for a few moments, but for hours at a time! I intend to find out what she is up to, for as mentioned previously, I am fond of mysteries.

Nevertheless, Jane has been my best cure of late. Instead of giving in to her true nature of living a relatively ‘quiet’ social life, we have bustled off to dress shops all over town for gown fittings. The Austen family and I have attended several balls, but spread very far in between one and the next. However, a very grand ball is coming up in a fortnight and Jane wants to be sure I look my absolute best. There are, shall I say, ‘certain special gentleman guests’ that are to attend. Dear Jane…I think she is trying to make a match for me with one of those men. I haven't the slightest clue who, though. Diary, I will let you in on a little secret, which is this: I have no desire to marry….at least not yet. Though there is one thing that might persuade me. Old Mr. Whitby, who inherited my family’s estate, has died. And of course there is the question of who will marry his son, young Mr. Russell Whitby, who is heir to the estate. He is, naturally, still unmarried, being only three and twenty. I can only hope that my distant relative is not as dreadful as Elizabeth Bennett’s cousin, Mr. Collins, in First Impressions! Perhaps there is still hope that I could once again live on the grounds where I have such cherished childhood memories. It would bring such happiness to my heart!

Farewell for now, diary...I will write you next about the ball!! And maybe by then I will have discovered Jane's secret.

Hello, Friend! It has been such a pleasure to have you for a guest at my home. What shall we do today? Perhaps we could take a trip into town to shop for a new hat? On the way, I will tell you some more of my story. How does that sound?

Dearest Diary,

Much has happened since I wrote you last. My life has been turned upside down…
I fear that nothing will ever be the same again.

That afternoon when we were on our way to visit Jane, something unnerved our horses. The driver swooned at being jolted so furiously as the horses plowed onward, with nothing that could persuade them otherwise. I was tossed around in the carriage like garments that ripple on the line in the height of a storm just before raindrops start falling. Suddenly, I knew I injured my head as it hit against the carriage handlebar. Then everything went dark…I knew no more until a couple of days after the accident. As I slowly opened my eyes, I saw a beautiful face before me. This lovely young woman was a few years older than I, and possessed abundant dark hair, that was curled and pinned up in the latest fashion. Rosy cheeks accompanied her pleasing smile and green eyes. She held a glass of water to my lips and I drank freely. Then her sweet voice told me to lie still, and so I did.

For several days after that, I was aware of little and slept most of the time. When I was somewhat ‘normal’ again, except for the weakness I felt, this same sweet girl said, “Hello, dear cousin, Rosalyn. I’m Jane.” I was so thrilled to learn this was indeed Jane! The thought had crossed my mind before, but I was not able to think clearly about it at the time. The doctor was close behind her, leaning over to take a good look at me. My cheeks must have still had the flush of fever upon them, for he brought out a jar of squirming leeches. I knew indeed what they would be for…He wanted to bleed me one last time. I quietly thought to myself that I would rather be infected than have those nasty, bloodthirsty creatures touching me! But, I said nothing. Jane explained to me that I had a serious concussion and head wound that had brought on the fever, but thankfully, I pulled through. I breathed a sigh of relief. She also said that the accident had happened just outside of the grounds that occupied the Austen estate. That is why I had ended up there.

I then felt a fear that I had never felt before creep into my heart. I asked in a quiet voice about my parents…scared to know the answer. Tears welled up in Jane’s eyes as she said with a shaky voice, “The carriage… The carriage crushed your Mama and Papa, Rosalyn dear. I am deeply sorry! Just remember they are in Heaven now, worshipping at the feet of Jesus.” She wrapped me in a warm hug, then left me to be alone. The tears ran freely down my cheeks, and I did not try to stop them. My heart was shattered into a million pieces. ‘They are gone…they are gone’ I kept whispering to myself as I rocked back and forth. I was an orphan? How could this be?

                                                    But, I shall continue on now...

After I had cried until I did not have anymore tears left, I came to realize something that was nothing but the truth. As Jane’s words echoed in my mind, ‘Just remember they are in Heaven now, worshipping at the feet of Jesus.’ I kept thinking about what it must be like there.

That night I had a beautiful dream…

My Mama and Papa held me in their embrace once more. They were clothed in shining white garments, and their tears were bottled forever. Brilliant smiles lit up their faces…they were filled with unspeakable joy!

Then, I woke up. A new day had dawned. I wandered out into the rose garden. It was such a beautiful paradise.. The roses were adorned with diamond dewdrop jewels that glistened in the early morning sunlight. Their fragrance was so refreshing! I made my way to an iron bench that was fashioned uniquely with different flower designs. I was intrigued by it.

Then I began thinking again…

Jesus brought a thought to my mind that I was never to forget...a thought I knew to be nothing but the truth. My beloved parents were gone forever from this life on earth, but not in the eternal life that is to come. For we three are united in Christ and will meet yet again…in Heaven! What a joyous reunion that will be. Once I grasped that fact, I began to smile once again...and to actually take an interest in life.

Hello, dear friend! How are you faring this morn?

Oh, dear, it looks as though it is raining! Well, how would you like to work on some embroidery while I continue the stories from my past by reading a couple of my diary entries? It was a day very much like today…

Dearest Diary,

The pitter-patter of raindrops can be heard as they splash against the windowpanes…they compose such a splendid musical piece, even though it can develop a melancholy atmosphere at times. However gloomy the day may feel, it encourages a writing spirit within me. So saying, I have turned to you for companionship this afternoon.

First Impressions has proven to be simply delightful! My faithful bookmark holds my place nearly halfway through it already. It has been less than half of a fortnight since my sixteenth birthday when I was presented with this lovely gift. I know one thing for certain... I am inspired by the author's obvious talent. It puzzles me that he or she should want to remain ‘anonymous’. But, I am fond of mysteries and it is my hope to one day meet this author, whomever it may be. I wonder if I will ever have the opportunity for such a blessing.

The trip to visit my cousin, Jane, will go on as planned.
I am overjoyed, to say the least. What a pleasure it has been to exchange letters with my dear cousin. Although we have never met, I feel as though we have been friends already. We have begun preparations for our departure this afternoon. I shall continue writing once we are on our way…

Pen and quill meet your crisp, white pages once again this day…But, dearest diary, please excuse my poor penmanship, for I am writing my thoughts to you from within our carriage. How delighted I am! We are on the way to spend the summer with sweet Jane. Oh dear! I do believe something has spooked the horses. We are beginning to travel at a lightening speed. I fear for my life! Lord, please save us!

Hello there! My name is Roselyn.

And as I sit here in the warm sunshine of early spring, in this dainty flower garden while sipping tea, I am reflecting over the events of my life and how I came to be where I am now. I would like to share my story with you. Thoughts of my past are continuously churning in my mind. I don't know exactly where to begin...

I'll start by reading to you the very first entry in my beloved diary.

My Dearest Diary,

What a lovely new friend you are! One whom I can share all of my hopes, dreams, joys, and sorrows.  I shall begin our friendship by sharing my happiest memory, the day in which I turned sixteen.

On that splendid morning, I rose from my bedchamber, with the hope of a perfect day! I was considered a young lady now, as is the custom in England. I wandered to my bedroom window, drew back the lacy curtains I am so fond of, and let the glorious morning light warm me and fill the room with light.  I closed my eyes, drinking in the beauty of the moment.

Within a few moments, our maid, Nancy, rapped on my door and presented me with a prettily wrapped package entitled, "To My Dear Cousin Rosalyn: From Jane."   When opened, I found a dainty lavender dress! How delighted I was to finger the luscious folds. As Nancy helped me dress, I pondered about the trip I was to go on with my Mama and Papa. I was to meet my cousin Jane for the very first time! What a beautiful gift she had given me even though we only knew each other through our letters.  I descended the staircase with a light heart to break my fast, eagerly awaiting the start of my special day.  Cook had made my favorite dish...crumpets with fresh blackberry jam! Mama and Papa each greeted me with a warm embrace. They both held gifts for me in their hands. I opened them with fingers that trembled with anticipation. The first present was from Mama. What a wonderful surprise! I had always wanted one of my very own, and then there you were, dear diary.   A smaller package, wrapped in neat brown paper, was fastened with a string on your cover. I pulled the string, and suddenly I saw the reflection of my face in a golden heart shaped locket. It was Mama's heirloom, that had been passed down from mother to oldest daughter for generations in our family.  I threw my arms around her neck and planted a kiss on her cheek.
Then, I picked you up for the first time, and fingered your crisp, new pages with a smile on my lips, and a sparkle in my eyes.

It was Papa's turn to place a gift in my hands. I squealed in delight, even though it was not considered 'fashionable' for a lady such as myself to do so, as the book entitled 'First Impressions" peeped out at me through its half removed packaging. This treasure was the talk of town and just off the press too! Papa was able to fetch it for an excellent price. After all, he did own the largest printing press in our area. One thing you must know about me, dearest diary, is that I am a great lover of literature, and usually you will find my head behind an open book! So imagine what a joy it was to receive this precious gift!

Never had such wondrous gifts been bestowed upon me until that day. My heart was filled with such joy and happiness that bubbled up inside me, like the splashing fountain that is located within our estate's grounds.  The remainder of my first day of being sixteen was very delightful, to say the least.

However, I shall retire now, for I am weary after recording this day's account.

I have painted a beautiful picture of my life for you so far.
And that it was, until tragedy destroyed our household and family one horrible day. This was only one piece to the puzzle which now, I can see fits together perfectly, even when I could not understand it at the time. But, I shall wait until another time to tell you the rest of my story, for it has grown late...

Hello Everyone!

The past couple of weeks have flown by--where has the time gone?!?

But the good news is this:

I'm back from my blogging break...and it's wonderful to be back I might add!!

I have so missed you, girlies!

Summer is in full bloom now.

Breezes of this season have turned the chapter of our book to the next page...

God is writing out our summer in each of our books. :)

One great thing about the Author of our book is that we never know what is coming next,

which turns out to be a mixed blessing time after time.

Things have popped up this summer that I never expected would be happening.

But I am learning new things...

To learn is bliss...most of the time, anyway. *winks*

After all, isn't learning one of the essential things to growing in our daily walk?

You have to learn to embrace the joys and sorrows it brings in order to truly live.

So try to see the world through God's eyes and it will be what it is....beautiful.

And do you know what?? When you catch this perspective:

Life is beautiful.

I've always wondered what it's like in Heaven.

I believe it is so glorious that we can't even imagine what it is like until the Lord calls us there.

What a joy it must be for Christians to be face to face with their Maker,

surrounded by angels and loved ones they knew they would meet again one day.

"You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

Psalm 16:11

I have a precious friend who just entered Heaven through the pearl gates for the first time last night...

Mrs. Molly. Never was there a truer friend, wife, mother...A sweeter companion or encourager. She has such a beautiful legacy. One of a triumphant faith, even while walking through the trials that come with cancer. It was a long journey for her, but her love for her family and God was steadfast, constant, and sincere.

She is experiencing the joys of Heaven now. Her tears are bottled, her sickness is no more, her Master has graced her with a crown. Her feet walk along streets of gold.

As I mentioned in my last post, Mrs. Molly is mother to Emily...my dear friend who

I wouldn't trade for the world. It has been a blessing to be able to stand by her side, ready to offer a

word of encouragement, a hug, or prayers.

This is a very difficult time for their family and I know they would all appreciate your prayers.

You can write a little note to Emily here if you would like to. :)

:::my prayer is this:::

Dear Heavenly Father,

You know that Emily's family is going through the loss of a loved one right now.

May you fill the whole family with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Help them to feel Your presence--And be comforted.

For You are by our side...always. You know our hurts.

And, in honor of Mrs. Molly, I would like to share I Will Rise by Chris Tomlin. She enjoyed this song, and even though it brings the tears, I like to listen to it, because it reminds me of her, and the happiness she must be experiencing right now...in Heaven.

:::He Knows Our Hurts:::

On this journey of life, joys and sorrows come our way.

Our world is turned topsy-turvy by things we come across when we reach bends in the road.
And, sometimes it may seem like the sorrow outweighs the joy. Things can break our heart...terribly.

But, you know what?

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all."

~Psalm 34:18, 19 NIV

Jesus is all knowing--He cares deeply for each individual...and what happens to them.

No matter what you are going through, He's there. Even if it seems like He is a million miles away.

Call on His name. Rest in Him. Take refuge in Christ.

Cast all of your cares upon Him. Our burdens are just too heavy for us to bare the weight of them. The funny thing is, often times I find myself *insisting* on carrying the weight on my shoulders. It is always such a relief to surrender those burdens to God, though! Let Him take all of the stress, worry, or fear of a situation. It's not too big for God!

We can only see the present. But Jesus can see the past, present, and future. He has an ultimate plan for our lives, and sometimes, it does includes hardships. These will hopefully, in the end, bring about beautiful character and a closer walk with our Creator. Take it from a friend who has this knowledge, from having walked through this.

Take heart. Don't give up hope! You're beautiful. God loves you and so do I. *smiles*

Ms. Molly has been in the hospital for a little over a week now due to some complications after she had her usual maintenance chemo to treat her cancer. See this post to learn more.

Their whole family is very dear to my heart. Please be praying for all of them!

{Some News + A Photoshoot with Emily}

My dear friend, Emily, came over on Saturday. We headed outside and did a photoshoot!

They are always such fun. *smiles*

But, before I share those pictures, I thought I'd tell you some exciting news...

I got my braces on last week!! :D

Thankfully, it wasn't that painful getting them on, it's just that your teeth get really sore afterwards.

And eating is a whole different story now! *blushes* Btw, in case you couldn't tell from the picture(s), I chose purple and teal on every other tooth for my colors. But, I'm pretty much used to my braces now, and the soreness isn't there anymore--so that's good! *smiles*

I just have to keep thinking about the pretty smile that will reward me in the end!

Lord, Your Grace is Sufficent

I have been blown away by God's grace to help me get through this hard trial (see this post), lately.

He has given me the patience to endure...The peace to withstand.

He has quieted me with His love. He has rejoiced over me with singing (Zeph. 3:17) I am so thankful...Thankful for His grace, that is indeed sufficent.

I like all kinds of flowers. They are such a beautiful gift from God.

I have been to three!

Well, it's probably my favorite part of summer, because it's not too terribly hot.

Describe your "dream wedding location."
There is this gorgeous mansion that my mother and older sister both got married in.
It is such a quaint, dreamy place. :)

As you may know, I have Lyme Disease. I've had it for almost 4 years now (since the end of '07).
My younger sister and mother have it as well.

The past couple of years have been really tough for me. The disease is so hard to treat, and makes you feel so awful! This has been such a long, fiery trial for me spiritually and physically. It's so hard to keep fighting it....especially when you're down and discouraged, because we all are right now.
But God is still on the throne...

I've been anointed with oil by my pastor, prayed over by our congregation, lots of people have been faithful prayer warriors, and keep me lifted up in their prayer life....
we just keep asking God to heal us...We keep praying for a break through...that somehow, someway I will be released from the evil chains of bondage Lyme Disease has wrapped around my health.

You know what? That song makes my belief even stronger that there is still healing in His wings! God is the ultimate Healer. The Great Physician. God is BIGGER than all of this! I know that He has a wonderful plan for my life. At the moment, that includes having Lyme Disease. I don't know why I have it....I don't have all of the answers... And I don't understand. But God does. He knows. He cares. He understands, for He can see the whole picture.

                                           So, despite how challenging my life is now
          I believe that Christ is indeed my Healer!

A Lyme Update:
I haven't updated My Lyme Story in awhile now, so here is a little update for everyone.

I have been seeing a Lyme specialist in Washington, D.C. for a year now, and it has been a long process trying to get my nervous system under control with meds. that work. My nerves are still very aggravated and inflamed write now, because they don't have a coating on them, so it causes a lot of pain and discomfort in all different areas of my body. I've been taking a certain med that has helped, but not nearly enough, to get my symptoms under control so we can treat the actual Lyme bacteria.
Meanwhile...
By chance, my dad recently found this doctor's website who has a whole new approach to treating Lyme Disease. What makes him different from the average doctor? Well, he and his whole family had it...BUT, they were treated successfully and it wasn't with your typical antibiotic route. Instead of using traditional antibiotics, they used homeopathy (natural route for treatment) as well as some electro & needle acupuncture, etc.

The good news is that this doctor felt the strong need to share this wonderful way of treatment. He was trained and now treats patients using this new natural way.

After reading all of this info on his website and praying about it, my parents felt led to take me to see this doctor....so, I saw him a couple of weeks ago. And he gave us the hope of healing.

I pray that he is right! He told me..."Next time this year, you're going to be a new woman."
Wow! That brought tears to my eyes. I just can't imagine what it would be like to be free of all of this!
I don't really remember what it is like not to be sick or feel bad. Sometimes we can truly take for granted just simple things. Your health is such a precious gift God gives to each and everyone. It's hard to lose that gift and to suffer. Not many 14 1/2 year olds have to worry about their health. But hind site, even from where I stand now in this path of life, is 20/20 because I can glance over my shoulder and see all of the good that has come out of this trial.

And I can say this...

I am thankful.  Thankful for God shaping and molding me.

His Potter's hands know just what this clay needs in order to become beautiful. God is the most seasoned Potter out there that ever layed hands on clay. The extent of my cracks and flaws don't matter to Him...Because He knows me within and without. He has the superglue to fix me up!

Now, this can take a whole lot of work! Regardless, I want God to fashion me into a vessel that reflects His glory...always. I know I fall short often, but I am so blessed by having God's strong hand reach out to me, and pick me up when I fall. This promise is very precious to me..."And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." {2 Corinthians 12:9a KJV}

He has given me the strength I need to withstand all of this...I just have to take it one day at a time.
