Catch My Breath

Salt spray is in the air, can be tasted on the tongue.  Exhilarating sky, wind, and waves.

I catch my breath at the beauty.

Feet touch the sand, leave a print.

The warmth and closeness of family, so healthy...
to know it, so enriching.  So right.  What God intends.

Hands join together.  A bond formed, representing more than just a circle.  Lives intertwined, united in the love of Christ and the same blood of father & mother pulsing through our veins.

I ponder this and more.

My steps lag behind.  I stoop to gather shells, each unique with their own story.  Some whole, some pieces, but both sorts perfect.  Whispering of beauty.  That beauty from God that is found in unexpected places.  Just look for it in the seemingly unexpected, turn your focus to it and you will see!  You will behold it.  Behold Him.

"The only way to see God manifested in
the world around is with the eyes of Jesus within.
God within is the One seeing God without."
~Ann Voskamp

The wind blows hair, embraces face.  Waves touch the shore, leaving frothy foam, which gets left behind, carried on the breeze.  So light and carefree.

Seagulls flap wings, swoop low.

Saltwater swirls, comes to the knees.

The senses are wakened, my mind is alive to think deeply.  Ponder.

Eyes close, savor sounds of crashing surf.  I breathe deep, taste salt, feel wind.

Sea creatures scurry at the ebbing of the waves to hide under the sand they are named for: sand fiddlers.
As a girl, I used to gather them up in my little hands.  Be filled with awe.

I gather up the sweetness of these moments just as with the seashells carried in my arms.  It washes over me like the waves do over sand and shells, lingering...soaking in.

To behold beauty makes the soul on fire with admiration for the Creator.  These are whispers to the heart from Him saying tenderly, with emotion:

"I love you.  This is all yours to scoop up, behold, take in.  Enjoy."
