Since the beginning of this New Year, my life has been filled with much excitement. Things have been quiet around here on the blog, I know. But, I have some big news to share!
Fall of 2013, my dad & I began considering our options for a missions trip to Uganda with SixtyFeet. We were going to go on a late April-early May trip...then the spots filled up. God closed that door, while opening a new one.
By now it was January. I received an email saying they had a trip scheduled for late March-early April. My stomach had hundreds of butterflies just thinking about how soon it was!! With excitement, I shared the news with my parents. They told me, "Moriah, it will take a miracle for you to be able to go."
This trip was only a couple of months away. Hardly any time to fundraise the thousands needed.
We stepped out in faith.
The middle of January, we submitted the paperwork for my passport.
I wrote a newsletter to send out to family, friends, and church family.
While we were in the post office, placing stamps on the envelopes, I told my dad what God had been teaching me through a Bible study...
"We did our part with the letters, praying over them, expressing the need, asking for support. Now we had to trust God to do something only He could do!"
We sent out a total of 200+ letters.
The response was overwhelming to say the least! The support from everyone kept pouring in like a flood. I was given a jewelry party fundraiser by some very sweet friends at church.
We purchased our plane tickets, got the necessary shots. Everything just fell into place.
In one months time God provided everything
we needed for this trip to Uganda.
He has given me my miracle!
Last Thursday, we were told that the group of people going on this missions trip decided to go on one of the summer trips to Uganda instead. With this change of plans, that leaves just my dad & I going. We will stay with a missionary family that is part of the SixtyFeet staff. It is a rare chance to see all the "behind the scenes" stuff that goes on there.
"...With men it is impossible, but not with God: for
with God all things are possible."
-Mark 10:27b {emphasis mine}
In less then two weeks, I will be hopping on a plan with
my dad to fly halfway across the world to Africa.
My dream will come true.
I will step foot in Uganda, living the call God has put on my life, in my heart.
"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
Psalm 37:4

Oh my goodness! That is so amazing. I've had a desire in my heart to go to Africa for a while now, particularly Kenya. It seems like such a big endeavor, especially the cost. But, your story has inspired me. I know that God will get me there in His perfect timing. (: I'm so happy for you! Have an amazing time and post pictures!
