That girl of yesterday would take pride in making delicious cakes or cookies from scratch
{oatmeal raisin cookies still continue to be my speciality. *winks*}
Now, baking will take on a brand new meaning for me.
As you know from reading my last post, Uganda is a place God has completely captivated my heart with. I eagerly anticipate the day where I step foot there...but for now, I have discovered a way to be involved in the 60 Feet ministry, and touch the lives of the imprisoned orphans all at the same time.
60 Feet has a joint organization called The Cupcake Kids, which basically got started when kids here in the USA wanted to make a difference in the lives of the kids in Uganda. They decided to set up a cupcake stand right in their yard & sell lemonade {you can read the whole story here}. God prospered that first sale amazingly well. It proved to be such an effective, fun way of raising support that now Cupcake Kid sales are held by tons of people all across the States. 100% of the money goes to the orphans in Uganda. Incredible, right?!
The exciting news is that I will be heading up a cupcake sale at my church!
Mom was the one who suggested it first. We were on their website and out of the blue she said:
"Moriah, what if you have a sale of your own?"
Needless to say, I was thrilled at the thought of being able to do something for the orphans here and now. After talking to our pastor, he told me to present everything to our missions team. Of course, it was a little nerve wracking to think of doing that, but the Lord gave me the strength I prayed for, which was to be a strong voice for the orphans of Uganda. The love and support of my brothers and sisters in Christ at the meeting was completely amazing. It looks like the cupcake sale will take place sometime in the fall when AWANA starts up again...that gives time to plan over the summer. I can't wait to see it all unfold.
So there you have it. My first step of the journey on this beautiful adventure God has called me to.
{above is a clip telling about the impact it makes on the orphans to know that people care about them.}
That sounds like a wonderful charity and how lovely that you can do something to help the orphans!
ReplyDeleteI recently started sponsoring with Compassion and it is amazing! x
It is so neat to hear how you are getting involved, Moriah! Isn't it amazing to see how God takes our interests and passions and brings us opportunities to use them for His glory and to bless others?!?!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! God is incredible about opening doors and providing wonderful opportunities! Praying for grace and peace for the journey ahead of you!
