Latest news from Sixty Feet...
Today we had the honor and privilege of baptizing 11 children and providing beds to 35 children who had been sleeping on the floor for almost one year. "Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited; Let us REJOICE and BE GLAD in His SALVATION.*" The Lord has heard our cries: M1 is becoming a place where children encounter God!" *Isaiah 25:9

This beautiful video clip made me want to cry...so bittersweet!! It filled my heart with joy.

These kids can reach for Jesus in their desolation and receive such comfort, love, and meaning. Sometimes I think they are more happy than I could ever be.  Their perspective is so heavenly, so eternal, so set on Christ and who He is!!  I want that.

They are a thankful people....  thankful for the smallest, minute things.  I need to practice more thanks. It is the key to being in God's presence.  {Psalm 100:4}

They are a people who rejoice in Christ's return. I'll never forget the stinging conviction, the tears of happiness that filled my eyes when an orphan girl told me after I asked her if she knew Jesus and that she could pray to Him any time she liked just as we were talking then...

"One day He is coming for me."  Her countenance beamed as she spoke those words.  Words that have been impressed upon my heart, never to be removed. I complain about things in life that don't matter--and when this girl really did have things to be ungrateful about if anyone had a reason to, I would expect to hear complaint. But no, she let her heart be overflowing with the HOPE of the Lord's coming. Her Rescuer, Redeemer, Sustainer, her All in All...the One who promises:

"They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes."
{Revelation 7:16-17}

I look at Uganda and the people and see the imprint of God at work...all over them!!  I look forward to the day not too long from now when I will walk the rusty red soil, and lift my voice in worship to Jesu, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords with these people so precious in His sight.  We will praise Him and thank Him and remember all that He has done and will do for us.

Thanks for taking time to leave a note. It always makes my day to hear your thoughts! My desire is for everything on my blog to reflect Christ, so please keep that in mind when commenting. :)
